VF - Type O (Vertical Farm - Type Organic) can offer the perfect solution to the main crises the world faces today such as deforestation, population increases, climate change, pollution, depleting resources, dwindling ecology, decreasing food supplies, urban heat island effect and more.

VF: 12 Floors of indoor faming space + 2600m2 per of Indoor Farming per floor + over 30,000m2 of quality controlled Indoor Farming in Total Orchards + 25000m2 of outdoor quality controlled area

Population growth was a crisis that had strong influence in determining this response. VF - Type O allows for future population growth with new floors being able to be added at later dates. Each crop section has a reflective edge which allows maximum use of sunlight by bouncing to the back of the space. The 5.5m high floor levels allow for twice as much ambient light as a typical high rise. There is a series of led’s which help to provide the optimal amount of light for each varying produce. All surfaces are either white or reflective. The organic links came from a multitude of design factors. When designing a vertical farm it is important to realize the many varieties of plant life there are. For example orchard crops are much more intensive. VF - Type O chooses to utilize neighbouring multi-story car parks for the more intensive farming in an attempt to also dramatically reduce the urban heat island effect. Linking the main vertical farm and its subsidiary orchard farms gave an opportunity to address another plant variety, vines/creepers. The organic links can also act as the service lines or veins to and from the vertical farm.
