Triptyque

Located in the heart of a neighborhood with a strong artistic vein, where galleries and street walls offer a great variety for new expression and occupation forms, this studio building occupies a site that’s marked by frequent floods.

Like a living body, the building questions – inside its context – the construction as a finished and manufactured object, bringing to light different phases of its evolution under the action of dynamic interconnected entities (rain / recovery / pumping / irrigation / vegetal growth).

The project brings upfront the hydro system, which creates a dynamic relation throughout its length with the low-tech elements (tubes / pluming / tanks / broadcasters, etc.) offering various border elements – some of which constitute the guardrails of the building.

The constructed volumes, organized around a plot, function as neutral and primitive bases, pierced with spaced out pores that house different plant species. The façade’s evolving and heterogeneous aesthetic will, over time, assume different forms and colors as its constituting elements change naturally.

As a contrast, the internal spaces of the studios have smooth and monochromatic surfaces with decks and patios, and its protruding concrete lips that frame the skyline of Vila Madalena.
